Finished, yet starting again...

Pictures of my finished doily, with two shuttles. It came out so pretty. I can't wait to make a whole bunch for Christmas ornaments!

I'm also starting another pattern with two shuttles! it's been so rainy and miserable that I'll probably get it done pretty fast!

This week.....

At our tatting class on Sunday, we are working on a medallion that has two colors. The pattern we are using takes a bit of thinking so I'm progressing confidently slow (if that makes any sense). I've also started the 'Be-Stitched' doily in a smaller, white thread and it looks really lacy. I got quite a bit done while my family and I were watching the Oscar's last night! Pictures to come! Bye for now!!

when sick....TAT!

I picked up a cold on Tuesday so while I haven't been feeling real good I started a doily for my mom from a pattern that I found on Be-Stitched.com (http://www.be-stitched.com/momspinkdoily.asp). The pattern calls for size 12 yarn, but I have this really pretty yellow thread in a size 3 so I decided to use that (my mom and I think it looks nicer with a 'bulky' thread) It's a really easy pattern so I'll probably make another one in the size 10 that I have. Maybe I'll make it in the orange variegated Flora like the coaster!!

We start tatting with two colors on Sunday and I think I'm going to use white and a variegated purple for our in-class medallion. I hope our class doesn't get canceled because are supposed to get an absurd amount of snow tomorrow. The weather people forecasted something like 6+ inches!!! and it was just starting to warm up and feel like spring!!!

ALL DONE!

Here it is!

There is another row on the pattern and I can't decide if I want to add it or not....hmmm. I've had a sore throat so maybe I'll add it on, we'll see! I can't wait to start tatting with two colors at next weeks class.

First Tatting 2 Class

Sunday was our first tatting 2 class. The sun was out and it was lovely. We made a coaster with a simple edging. For this class I picked a cool looking orange thread. It makes my coaster have a sunflower effect.

I also got a new shuttle with this class and mine is a lime green Lacis. Next week we are going to make a snowflake with two colors. I've picked out a purple variegated and white. I'll post as that comes up! Toodles!

Easy Picot Gauge!

This morning I started the first round on my doily and there are Reverse work rings and a ton of picots. So I needed a way to measure and make sure that they were all the same size because I'm not that good and winging it yet. I took an old gift card and cut it to different widths (S, M, L, XL), then punched a hole in the top and fastened them all on a paper clip. "Necessity is the mother of invention!"

"Miracle" Doily

Here is round one of my doily

I'm pretty sure that the chain should be 4-4-4-4-4-4. Thank you Sara!!!

FINISHED!!

Here is my finished hankie! it looks so nice!

I've started a doily but am having a bit of difficulty reading that pattern. The chain for the inner round reads: C4x5. Does that mean four ds between 5 picots or 5 ds between 4 picots?!? i can't tell from the picture because it's a copy. The pattern in on page 77 from the book Tatting patterns and designs by Gun Blomqvist and Elwy Persson. It's on that i borrowed from Sara. Anyone have any thoughts???

Just keep tatting...

Our tatting 2 class got canceled yesterday so i have another week to finish my hankie. I only have about 6'' to go! My fellow tatting friend Sara (http://currentlytatting.blogspot.com/) lent me a couple of books that i made copies from so I've started a large doily. I'll keep my blog updated as I finish that. But nothing else to report...
Tatting all the way!

Almost done with the hankie!

I'm wrapping up my hankie edging so I can bring it to class on Sunday. It looks really nice! I tried a ornament pattern that I got off the Internet and it ended up being too big for the ornament I bought. I can't tell how big my ornaments are because I measured them and the diameter came out way too big. I'll see if my knowledgable friends can't help me out! I got the ornaments on sale at Hobby Lobby for $.49!!! Gotta love after Christmas sales!! I'll keep you posted!
Later!
