My Bookshelf

Here is a list of all my favorite tatting books!

Tatting with Visual Patterns by Mary Konior
This book is probably my all time favorite. There is every kind of tatted creation in here from edgings, to doilies, to little bits and pieces. The diagrams are clear and easy to read and the pictures are clear and colorful.

Festive Snowflakes & Ornaments by Barbara Foster
I LOVE this book! There are some great motifs in here and they are all made with the idea that they can be pinned or tatted onto ornaments. The author uses all Lizbeth colors, which I think is great because you can see what some of the variegated threads really look like in a project.

Oh My Stars! Techniques for Tatters by Kaye B. Judt
This book is a great book for learning new techniques. I learned how to make clunies, block tatting, and split chains from this book. Great instructions and pictures.

Tatting - patterns and designs by Blomqvist and Persson
Tatting has some excellent patterns for doilies and little motifs. There are a couple edging patterns and three or four crown patterns for 3D tatting. I like this book because the motifs range from small, one shuttle pieces to medium motifs using two shuttles. These are great patterns to use when you have extra thread left over on a shuttle from a previous project. I've even made some square 'doilies' by joining multiple motifs  together. The downside to this book is that the antique patterns have different symbols then modern patterns so be sure to read ahead and make notes before you start tatting. A staple in my tatting adventures - a must have book!
