Exchange!

I've signed up for the InTatter's June butterfly exchange so I'm working on vairiations of my swollowtail butterfly. The body and outer trim of the first butterfly will be a verigated blue and the inner wings will be white. Not much else new....but now I finally have time to tat before I go back to work on Friday. How blessed I am!

My graduation party was this past Sunday and boy was I blessed. Over 50 people came out to visit the farm! But what I am most excited about is the gift that a good friend gave me. Sarah Lief is a wonderful lady that my mom works with and she is the one that got me started on my tatting journey. She lent me her book and DVD (How to Tat by Janette Baker) in November of 2008 and I was instantly hooked!(no pun intended!) So after I watched the DVD a million times and finally got it, my mom came home from work with information (from Sarah!) about a local quilt shop that offered tatting lessons. I have since taken their Beginners and Intermediate classes and both Sarah and I are anxiously awaiting their third course *Advanced Tattting.* We'll cover split chains and possibly clunies! I can't wait!!!

So now that you've heard the whole story.....On Sunday she gave me these beautiful gardening gloves with delicate pink and green flowers tatted around the wrists!! I was so touched! I'm going into college for a Horticulture degree, majoring in Greenhouse, and so these gloves are the best of both worlds! They are to pretty to use, so I think I'm going to frame them and just stare at 'em! Here are some pics: (Oh, and I finished my butterfly, too!)

Thank you Sarah from the bottom of my heart! You inspire me to keep on tatting and never give up! I hope to see you soon at Basketcases so we can tat and chat! Blessings!! Here is her blog for you to check out: http://currentlytatting.blogspot.com/

We often take what is good in life for granted. But when you are in the midst of a multitude of friends that love you, does not the world seem all the more beautiful? Praises to our Lord for my graduation milestone!!
Bye for now!

Current Tatting Project...

Wow! I can't believe how long it's been! What with graduation, parties, and work, I don't have a ton of time to tat anymore and boy, oh, boy do I miss it! So my butterfly is coming along really nicely. I have a week off of work because my good friend Doug is coming in from up-state New York to spend a week with us. So hopefully I'll be able to find some time to tat then. Work is going really well though!

more pictures to come! and pictures of my grad party!! bye for now!

Graduating...

My oh my. Today is my high school graduation. I've very excited and proud to have accomplished so much. I've been working a lot lately so I haven't been tatting as much as I would like to, but my sister had a good idea the other day. She was looking through my thread collection and saw my gold and black threads. I have been in kind of a tatting rut (no new ideas or patterns to try) so Lea says 'How about a swallow-tail butterfly?' So I'm going to work on that all day until I have to get ready for tonight's ceremony. Here's the link for the pattern that I'll use: http://www.craftown.com/tat/pat1.htm. Life is so good and I am so thankful to everyone who has been a part of shaping me into who I am today. You have my forever thanks.
So blessings on all of you this weekend! May your tattings be joyful!
bye for now!

Training...but still tatting!

I got my first job! So this past few days I've been training and writing papers for the last week of school so I've barely gotten time to tat. But on the days that I have training, during our break time, I pulled out my shuttles and a fellow employee came up to me and knew what tatting was. "Hey! Your a tatter!" she said. I actually didn't know how to react because most of the time people ask "what's that?" She said that her brother and sister did it while he was in the hospital. How cool!

Wish me luck! more training today!

All Done!

Well the fair was quite a success. I made $35 and sold many little bookmarks. I still have left overs so I'm going to start an Etsy this weekend. Now I am free! I don't have to tat under a deadline! I'm starting my bookmark for the Intatters' exchange. I was going to tat Kersti's Pattern (http://www.kersti.com/?p=411) but I'm having trouble with it so I'm starting one of Jon's patterns (http://tatsaway-patterns.blogspot.com/2008/08/bookmark-with-overlapping-chains.html) I'll post pics along the way but I can't wait because I'm going to try my hand at split rings and split chains! Off to enjoy a beautiful weekend in the Midwest!
