New Threads & a successful art show

Gosh I just can't say enough good things about HandyHands Tatting!!!!! I ordered 8 new Lizbeth threads, a new book, and IT CAME WITHIN TWO DAYS!!! It was so fun to come home from a day at work to find a package for me on the kitchen counter! They have these great new shuttles called Starlit Shuttles that I can't wait to use!
HandyHands Starlit Shuttles
I also bought Yarnplayers book that has some stunning patterns in it. Very excited...can't wait to start a motif in my new thread! Pineapple Parfait is the new Lizbeth thread that I am most excited about.

OH THE FUN WE TATTERS HAVE!!!!!

And to top everything off I sold two doilies at the art show yesterday! My boss purchased one medium doily and a small motif. She said she was going to give one as gift and the other she was going to hang in her window. That's a fun new idea that has me thinking of future projects!! ; )

So I'm as happy as a clam - a day off work with new threads and books and shuttles! YIPPEE!!
Have a great day everyone!

Awaiting Goodies!

For the past three wees between working, helping out at the farm at home, and graduating college, I've been tatting earrings and headbands like crazy for the artist event at the garden center where I work! I have a total of 8 pairs of earrings, in four styles and different colors and one headband/earring set. Now I have to figure out a way to display them! I'm thinking of taking an old picture frame and putting small, mesh screening in it to hang the earrings on. That was my mom's idea, which I love, and I think it will look fantastic! I'll be sure to take pictures and let you all know how it goes!

I'm also awaiting a package from Handy Hands Tatting with seven or eight new balls of thread! I also bought a new book by Yarnplayer called Up and Tat 'Em! I have always admired her work and cannot wait to try out some of her amazing patterns!
So that's all that's new around here! Busy as usual, but tatting along just the same! Here are some graduation pictures for you! Have a great week everyone!

So Excited!!!

I'm super excited!!! At my new job on the third Sunday of every month we have a garden show where we offer classes (this last month's was container gardens and composting with worms). Next month I will join the ranks of some of the other local artists and show and sell some tatting!!! The gals at work were totally amazed at some of the lace I brought to show them one night. One gal even had an idea to make older Victorian hair pieces!
So my current projects are making earrings, bookmarks, and headbands! What fun! I'm using the centers of doilies (if they are small enough) and reworking edgings to come up with some fun and unique earring patterns. Pictures to come! But there's lots to tat first! ;) Have a great day, and may all your tatting journeys be blessed!

A Sweet Thank-You gift!

My mom totally surprised me with a bag of goodies for taking such good care of the farm while mom and Lea where away. I got Barbara Foster's Embellishing with Edgings book and I just LOVE  it!!! She also got me three new Lizbeth colors: Vineyard Harvest (#131), Antique Violet Med (#640), and Seagreen Light (686). And to make it the perfect gift bag she included a 9.5" X 9.5" square white cotton hankie! I'm planning on making edging #15 (pictured in blue on the front cover of the book) in my favorite light green color. There is a little embroidered flower pattern on a corner and I think I'll just stitch my own thread over the existing pattern to tie in the color! What good fun! Hope you all are having a terrific Thursday! Love from the Midwest,

Fun little designs...

It's been a rainy weekend here in Northern Illinois. My mom and sister are away in Florida for my sister's school so dad and I are holding down the fort at home. Dad and I always have a good time when they are gone. Last night we made home-made deep dish pizzas and watched a Star Wars movie :) So naturally I had plenty of time to tat. Here is a picture of the coronet doilies I'm working on.  I'm thinking the green and pink will be a good Mother's Day gift!!! I'm off to feed the horses! Have a thrilling Thursday!!!

Color Combos!

I love this doily pattern so much I decided to started two more!!! It's the coronet doily from my previous posts and all three are coming along nicely. I scanned these guys so that's why they look a little funny,

The solid green is the first one I started and I quickly realized how pretty the pattern looks so I got the notion to try some fun color combos. The one on the far right is a lighter green with a subtle pink variegated thread. These two threads together are quickly becoming my favorite!!! The middle one I started last night and is in navy blue and  Lizbeth's Wedgewood light. I like how striking it looks.
School is quickly wrapping up and work at the garden center is gettin' busy! Life is good in Illinois!
Happy Tattings!
