A day off to tat...

Aaahhh, a day off to tat. I can't think of anything better then for my day off of work to be rainy, so that there is time for tatting! Tatting and listening to new music by The Piano Guys!!!! I can just hear the weather-man saying "Chances for tatting are increasing for the afternoon, with a high possibility of shuttle activity!"

I've started another Stawasz doily! I found 2 brand new balls of Flora white, in size ten, in my tatting box that is PERFECT for the Stawasz projects! I have a lot of white crochet cotton that I bought when I first started tatting but it frays so badly that I'm always hesitant to use it. and VOILA! The perfect thread has appeared!
This one has a neat square/diamond shape to it. I've always wanted to try a pattern like this that is all split rings and is tatted in straight lines. It's been a good challenge; there a bit of logic that goes along with it because you have to think of which direction the rings need to go, especially around the corners : )

Happy Tattings everyone!
Off to see a movie with my sister tonight!

TIAS Day 2

It's been a busy couple of days, but I did have some time to tat Day 2 of TIAS 2013! I have enjoyed looking at everyone's color choices on Jane's Website! Be sure to stop by and see what everyone else has been up to!
I'm also preparing for teaching a tatting class at Esther's Place! If you have ever wanted to learn to tat please come and join us next Wednesday afternoon! Call to register; we'd love to have you!

 Have a terrific Tuesday!

Classic Doily Re-Do

My first attempt at Linda's Classic Doily didn't go so well. I used a size 10, older thread that would fray and snap whenever I would do a lot of chains. Since this doily is mostly chains and I really like the pattern so I've given it another go! This is in wedgewood light Lizbeth thread and I'm loving it! I used split rings and split chains and am in love; they save so much time and I've really enjoyed honing my tatting skills.

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!

I've done it!

I learned how to tat split rings! I'm so thrilled! I used Jane Eborall's instructions found here (http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~nickeb/SplitRings.pdf) Her instructions are so great, I use her website for everything! There were quite a few patterns that I wasn't able to try out before and now I'm so excited to start them. I'm kinda glad that the weather is crummy outside because I have an excuse to tat!
